PanoramicVision™ System

Finally. Eyes in the back of your head.

Leave it to Magna Donnelly to finally solve the blind spot problem. Using small, rearview cameras and an instrument panel display, our PanoramicVision™ System gives drivers virtually a 180-degree view of the area behind their vehicles.

No bulky exterior mirrors.

The PanoramicVision™ System may revolutionize automotive design. It allows designers to eliminate bulky exterior mirror housings, dramatically reducing wind resistance and boosting fuel economy.

General Motors embraces the concept.

At the 2000 Detroit Auto Show, GM showcased Magna Donnelly’s PanoramicVision™ System in its ultra-high-mileage Precept concept vehicle. In this vehicle’s revolutionary system, three cameras offer the driver a complete rearward view, without blind spots, along with traditional instrument panel information, all on a single display.

GM engineers estimate that by eliminating the need for outside mirrors, they reduced the vehicle’s drag by 17 percent.

Proprietary Software.

The PanoramicVision™ System is a step beyond virtually anything else on the road. It’s built around proprietary software that merges digital images from three or more separate cameras into a single panoramic image. Through that image, drivers have a clear, unified view of the rear and sides of the vehicles and virtually no blind spot.
